"Rail and Walk"

Bettendorf - Hoesdorf
- www.reisdorf.lu

The "Remembrance Walk" retraces the various stages of the confrontation between American and German troops during the Battle of the Ardennes on both Luxembourg and German soil. Nature has preserved the remains such as period graffiti and markings, trenches, the traces of tanks and bullets and grenades in the trees. Starts (17 km) in Bettendorf (castle), Hoesdorf (U.S. memorial), Reisdorf (information office) and Wallendorf (pont de l’Our).

Clervaux - Troisvierges

All along the path No. 40 Clervaux-Troisvierges (14 km, "Rail and Walk" railway guide, www.editionsguybinsfeld.lu) you will encounter many traces of the Second World War (monument made from a wreck of an airplane and six tombstones, a convent that was the assembly point for more than 700 Jews deported by rail to Auschwitz, a commemorative stone of the American liberation in 1945).

Luxembourg

The "Spurensuche" trip (2.5 km) will take you on a tour of discovery of the historic sites and places of remembrance relating to the Second World War. Folder available. Guided visit (max. 25 pers.).

Luxembourg City Tourist Office, Place Guillaume II, P.O. Box 181, L-2011 Luxembourg. Tel. +352 22 28 09, +352 4796-2709, E-mail: guides@lcto.lu.

"GI tree graffiti"
Guided visit of a thematic trail

Schlindermanderscheid

The thematic walk "Bunkerwanderung" of 15 km, with a visit to a reconstructed "bunker" from the Second World War.

Schumanns Eck - www.touristinfowiltz.lu

The "Remembrance Path 1944-1945" takes you along foxholes in the woods where many American and German soldiers fought and died during the Battle of the Ardennes.

Troisvierges - www.naturpark-our.lu

The "Smugglers Route" illustrates the frontier situation of the region: the operations of the smugglers to Belgium in the surrounds of Troisvierges. The path retraces, in broad terms, the actual route taken by the smugglers with their protégés. Distance: 13 km with a 7 km version that includes the crossing of the forest and the border. Start and finish in the "Jardins...à suivre" park. Tel. +352 92 11 42.
